Alleluia

An old piece of work, not posted here yet.
As it matches the theme of my next workshop in Paris, I thought it might be appropriate to show it to you today.

Knotwork

While cleaning (once is not usual) my workshop, I fell on some slates of the Monts d'Arrée, full of rust. And as I had a little time, I took the smallest of them to try an engraving and I chose a knotwork pattern from the book of Kells.

The top layer of the slate has left in places, removing the rust color on fragments of the pattern but I'm not too dissatisfied with the result.

Skull

As I was digging in the garden, I came across this skull with its very elongated shape. It must be an alien remnant. That's all I can think about !

... Well, I confess, I sculpted it out of a pebble fragment. I added a magnet behind his head so it can decorate a fridge ;-)

67

I already told you about it, I'm organizing a workshop on filigrees in Paris this summer.
it will take place at Gallery 67.
So I had to illustrate it. After about 20 hours of work, here is the result.

Just to be illustrative, a few heads are a good idea (I particularly like the one with the crown, what about you?).

There are still a few places left, if you are interested, contact me.

Black & White

You know my love of color. Well I was a little tired of doing things in black on a white background so I decided to change.
This time it's white on black background ;-)

Your are still here

This weekend, we celebrated a friend's birthday. For the occasion, I engraved a small zinc brooch reminding her of her year of birth.

And also some slate triangles to put in her garden.

And as I offered her the engraving of "you are here", I made another one for my garden.

For those who would still wonder how it is done, here is a little video where I am engraving the slate with my homemade tools

You are here

It is important to know where you are and to identify what is around you.
So I continue to engrave slate triangles that I place in my garden for crowd edification.

Chards that don't seem to want to go out...

Salads that are difficult to confuse with an elephant but you never know...

A sign to know where you are...

And another sign, to know where everything else is. It is written in Breton and means "all directions".

Exhibition

It's the pretty month of May.
It is time for the spring exhibition in the chapel of Saint Ourzal in Porspoder.
And you can see my work there, Tuesday 8 and Thursday 10 May from 14h to 18h.

I am not alone, there are Richard Lempereur, Jean-Yves André and the members of the calligraphy societies of Brest, Saint-Renan and Porspoder.

Virgilis Aenidos

I did a lot of things this weekend.
Few of them had anything to do with calligraphy.

I started to calligraph the Aeneid on the inside door of my workshop. At about 20 minutes per line, I'm far from being able to put it back!
