Rusted rose

Still trying to get steel plates to rust only where I decided they have to.
Still not the expected result so back to rust under the rain. But it's a good start, at least better than the previous ones.

Moon of tar

In calligraphy practice, not only the final version of work is interesting.

The bent cover of a tar pot makes a beautiful abstract composition, don't you think ?

Proof of concept

Metal is nice but so is slate. Except that one cannot engrave it with acid, it would have been too easy.
As I don't have the appropriate tools, I make them and test them.

For a first try, it's not too bad. The letter is 1cm high, the tool allows quite precise work, just have to really do something with it now.

Start

A new start, first bit of a new ongoing work about which I'll say no more for the moment. A "S" on zinc, a bit rough with a really medievel inspiration.

The Decay of Lying

Here is (finally) the result of so many hours of work on this plate of zinc. It's a fragment from the essay The Decay of Lying by Oscar Wilde.

I'm quite happy with the beginning, chosen with your advices, even if the final version is not so close from the first draft.

In fact, I'm just happy with the whole of it and if you want to see the whole work, just click here.

Almost done

I have to say that after 60 hours of work, I dropped the metal plate in the acid bath with a bit of apprehension. Still some cleaning to do but, hopefully, everything went well.

More pics to come ...

Survey results

The survey ended last night, thanks to all for your participation.
Results are very close for the two firsts patterns so I took into account the second choices and it is the bramble pattern which comes first.

As for the lucky draw, chance has designated Calliscrapart who will soon receive her first choice, the branches.

Just have to go back to work now :-)

Beware !

I continue to play with small bits of zinc scattering my desk. A lot of new magnets for the fridge, I will have to by a larger one :-)

Escalope or A scallop ?

New year, new rotten play on words :-)

Acid-etched A after the cut-out of a disk in a scallop-shell.
Makes a nice pendant, dont you think ?
