Cursed be ...

As promised, here are more pics of my latest work on steel. It's a text by Pascal Quignard.
For the first time, I didn't use varnish for the calligraphy but regular tar.

Here is a small video of the action of rust (took about 3 weeks).

And to see the whole work, have a look in the gallery.

Just to make you wait until I find some time to take other pics, here is a close-up of my latest work on steel, using varnish and letting time and rust doing their job.

Vine on copper : fail

I already told you about the beginning of my first try in engraving a plate of copper. Here are the next steps with, at first, the plate after a few weeks in contact with vinegar.

Everything was going well, I decided to remove the varnish and then washed the palte with water and soap to remove the last traces of white spirit. And suddenly, no oxyd any more :-(
No more blue, no more green, evrything disappeared in the cleaning :-((

We still can see the pattern but that's at all the result I counted on. Just have to do it again...

Happy Birthday

Today is my wife's birthday.
I worked in secret for quite a while on this little drawing and gave it to her this morning. And guess what ? She liked it !

Which proves that an imitation of a bad inkjet printing of an over-contrasted pic can be a good present ;-)
And here is a close-up so you can see the work on lines

As an information, the drawing has been made with a metal nib with a mix of pigment and arabic gum on kraft paper

Initial D

I've just finished a new initial with filigrees. Nothing special to say about it, it's the kind of thing I do whithout even thinking about it now.
