Another break
Well, I'm still working on the Lindisfarne Gospels but I need to take a break from time to time so, her it is, another set of symbols & initials with filigrees.

Break
It's tiring to go from page to page in a manuscript to collect the initials, study them so as to reproduce them and finally copy them so as to transmit them.
So, I take a little break on the Lindisfarne Gospel and I come back to my marotte, the filigree initials.

ABC etc
Next step in the collection of the initials from Lindisfarne. All done between A & L.
No initial K in this manuscript, it's hardly surprising, but still unfortunate.

Collecting
After the capital letters A, I continue to collect the initials of the Gospel of Lindisfarne for my Celtic workshop in Welkenraedt next March.
For those who are interested, hurry up, there is only one place left!!

Less variety on these letters than on the A's but still a lot of different shapes...

Mind moves matter
It is Virgil who says it in the Aeneid and, of course, he says it in Latin: Mens agitat molem
And so, my mind, without really moving matter, transforms it.
And so, my mind, without really moving matter, transforms it.
It is a shale pebble, hand engraved with my faithful butter knife and a nail for the filigree pattern. And to give you an idea of the size, one last picture of the work when it was in progress and I was holding the pebble in my hand.
